The Men’s 1s came back from Felixstowe with a point after a 2-2 draw, but managed to secure 3rd position in the Premier B division and, more importantly, promotion. At the end of a tough season, featuring many draws that could/should have been wins, the team can be congratulated for digging deep and moving up next season. Well Done!
The Ladies’ 1s also finished the season in 3rd place, in Div 2SW, closing out the year with a goalless draw against Brentwood. However, there is no promotion for them as only two teams progress.
Another team in third spot but no promotion is the Ladies’ 4s. They are clear of 2nd and 4th in Div 4 but don’t get to move up next season. They lost 0-5 to Bedford this week.
The Men’s 4s beat Shefford & Sandy 5-3, but had already been declared champions of Div 5SW after a great season.
Similarly, the Men’s 6s were crowned champions of Div 8SW a few weeks ago and retained their 100% win record for the season with a 6-1 victory over Luton.
The Men’s 3s completed their campaign for the year with a 2-3 loss away to West Herts, but attain mid-table respectability in 7th place in Div 4SW.
The Ladies’ 2s are in 8th place in the Premier Division after a 0-1 loss to Leighton Buzzard and have also played all their games this season.
With one very important game to play next week, the Men’s 5s are in 11th position in Div 5SW and need a good result and some luck to avoid relegation, but it is still mathematially possible. Their hopes were kept alive this week with a 4-1 win over St Albans at home.
The Men’s 2s lost 4-6 to Shefford and Sandy are now relegated from Div 1.
The Ladies’ 3s are also relegated from Div 1 although they had no game this week.
